Styling Culottes 5 Ways

Hello lovelies, If you’ve been following me on Instagram then you know that I am on my vacation to India, yay 🙂 Before leaving for India, I did a photo shoot which I really enjoyed on one of my favorite topic – Styling Culottes. I love them for a reason – they have the functionality of pants, while still looking like skirts.

Gauchos/Culottes have made a major comeback last year and I couldn’t resist jumping on the bandwagon. They look like a skirt which is very chic and comfortable, strong yet feminine and can be worn in so many stylish ways – you can dress them up or down, or it can be transitioned from a day look to a night time party look.

I have been styling my culottes in so many ways and I enjoy every new look I create with them. Just by using 2 culottes you can create so many looks for any season. But remember sometimes culottes can be tricky to style. If they are wide legged, keep the top closer to the body or else you would end up looking messy, like a hanger for clothes, lol. You can try a monochromatic look with gauchos which gives a visually slimming effect. To be more innovative, you can match prints to create a jumpsuit effect. Here are 5 ways that I have styled my culottes.

I have created first 3 looks with a box pleated culottes and the other 2 with a tie waist culottes.

Formal look – Most 9-5 have shorts restricted on their dress code so culottes, which hit below the knee, can be an ideal alternative. This look is by far one of my favorite as I like dressing formally. I have teamed my Zara tie neck shirt from my wardrobe with the culottes and completed the look with closed toe pointed heels to elongate legs. Define your waist by tucking your blouse in. You can also wear strappy or fancy heels with it.

Sporty look – Sometimes we have to be realistic, heels aren’t ideal for running around, so if you want a more comfortable yet chic look then wear your sneakers and a Tee with your culottes. To create a streamlined look, tuck your Tee in. You can add more details by carrying a cross body sling bag. You can also try these Culottes for a more sporty look.

Turtleneck blouse – Turtleneck has been a staple of any wardrobe for their versatility. You can style them with anything without giving a second thought about it. It pairs well with wide leg culottes and looks preppy. You can add a leather contrasting jacket to flaunt the look.

Casual look – A lightweight off shoulder crop top pairs well with culottes. Add a funky pair of animal print pumps to make this casual look more stylish. Carry your handbag and you’re good to go.

Dressy look – A formal sleeveless blouse in a bold pop of yellow with a contrasting neck-piece elevates a pair of culottes. To make this look edgy wear a pair of culottes that ties at the waist, and show that off by tucking your shirt in.

What shoes to wear with Culottes?

You can wear sneakers, pumps, booties, strappy sandals, fancy sandals with the culottes but just remember this rule of thumb – If you prefer to wear close toe sandals then it has to be pointed to elongate the look.

Flats, heels, boots, or sandals. Dressy, casual, or sporty. A little longer, a little shorter- it’s up to you. So chic, so versatile, so wearable. That’s why I love them. What about you? Which look you like?  While you decide let me enjoy my vacation 🙂 Hope to see you soon

XOXO
